Contractor Performance Assessment Report (CPAR) was provided by NASA for ZeCoat's recently completed $750k silicon cladding R&D project. ZeCoat's report card; adherence to schedule, "Exceptional"; cost control, "Exceptional"; management, "Exceptional"; quality, "Exceptional".


February 13, 2017


ZeCoat installed purchased and installed a 2.4-meter diameter vacuum chamber.


January 1, 2017


ZeCoat installed a new silicon cladding chamber for optics up to 0.4-meters in diameter. ZeCoat applies thick silicon claddings for the purpose of polishing silicon carbide optics down to 2-angstroms RMS surface finish.

Posters on ZeCoat silver technology and battery-powered coating technology presented by David Sheikh at the SPIE Astronomical Telescopes + Instrumentation Symposium in Edinburgh in 2016 are now available for viewing. 1) Improved silver mirror coating for ground and space-based astronomy and 2) Battery-powered thin film deposition process for coating telescope mirrors in space.

ZeCoat announces that David A. Sheikh will present two papers at the SPIE Astronomical Telescopes + Instrumentation Symposium in Edinburgh, United Kingdom . The first paper titled, "Improved silver mirror coating for ground and space-based astronomy" will be presented at a poster session on July 1st, 2016. The second paper titled, "Battery-powered thin film deposition process for coating telescope mirrors in space" will be presented at a poster session on June 28th, 2016

ZeCoat participates as speaker and exhibitor at the Mirror Technology Days conference in Annapolis, MD.

ZeCoat successfully completes  contract titled, "Experimental Optical Coatings". This contracted research activity funded by JPL seeks to improve the state-of the-art in Al coatings for the FUV reflectivity of meter-class size astronomy mirrors.

ZeCoat develops a protected silver coating with enhanced UV reflectivity.

ZeCoat successfully completes NASA Phase I contract titled, "Broadband Reflective Coating Process for Large UVOIR Mirrors".


November 18, 2014


ZeCoat develops a protected silver coating (ZC-205) which enhances silver's reflectance down to 335-nm.

ZeCoat delivers thermal control coatings for the seismometer cover of the probe for NASA's InSight mission to Mars.
