VIS-NIR Coating — M³ Program

Mr. Sheikh created the protected silver coatings used on the M³ (Moon Mineralogy Mapper) imaging spectrometer. Paired with a specialized diffraction grating created at JPL to disperse wavelengths ranging from 430–3000 nm, this NASA instrument, carried by India’s Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft, helped confirm water molecules on the Moon.
